‘Tottenham would prefer…’: Alasdair Gold provides very latest update on Adama Traore

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to be linked with a move for Adama Traore during the January window, with the Wolves winger said to be Conte’s number one target for the right-wing.

Traore is into the final 18 months of his contract with Wolves now. There is a growing expectancy that the Spaniard will be leaving Molineux, and Tottenham are waiting in the wings. Spurs have been hoping to tie up the signing of Traore before January ends. Reports have suggested Tottenham are hoping to pay around £20m or less for Traore.

However, as yet, there is no sign of a deal being done. Indeed, Duncan Castles had claimed on his latest podcast this weekend that there no active negotiations underway between Spurs and Conte.

Agreement

But the interest is still there, and Football London’s Spurs reporter, Alasdair Gold, has given his very latest take on things today.

“Spurs want to make it happen but it all depends on whether they and Wolves can come to an agreement on the fee. Tottenham would prefer to make it a loan with an obligation to buy in order to free up funds for other new signings this month, but in the summer Wolves were resistant to that idea as they wanted the money now rather than later,” Gold said on his Football.London Q&A today.

“It remains to be seen whether with him currently not a regular starter and in the final 18 months of his deal, that stance has softened. Sometimes with a loan fee more can money can be taken now than in a structured permanent deal.”

Traore scored his first goal of the season this weekend as Wolves saw off Southampton at home. The winger, known for his pace and power out wide, has often lacked end product. However, Conte is thought to be keen to get the very best out of Traore at Tottenham.

TBR’s View: Amazing If Tottenham Don’t End Up With Traore

Getting bored of seeing things about Traore and Tottenham? Well, it doesn’t like this will be the last of it.

If come the end of this window Tottenham do not end up with Adama Traore, then something has gone very wrong at the club. He has been linked from day one. He is apparently open to joining and Wolves open to selling. It will be hugely frustrating for Conte, if Paratici cannot get this one done.
