'Just had a message': Journalist issues very latest Adama Traore to Tottenham update
Tottenham Hotspur are not currently in talks to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore, despite multiple reports suggesting a deal could be close for the Spanish winger.
While reports have suggested Spurs are in talks for Traore. Indeed, as recently as last night, Sky Sports – as reported on TBR – claimed that discussions were underway. The Wolves star has been linked with a move for Tottenham for some time now, and his links to other clubs go all the way back to last summer. Indeed, Leeds are said to have been among the clubs to make bids.
However, according to respected journalist, Duncan Castles, as things stand there are no currently no negotiations of note which would see Traore join Tottenham.
“I’ve just had a message actually, from someone close to Adama. And they’ve told me there are currently no active negotiations with Tottenham or Newcastle at present,” he said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“But as I say, he is a player that’s available. Whether someone decides to chase that down in the latter weeks of the window, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Castles added that Traore is very much someone who Antonio Conte wants at Tottenham. On Newcastle, he added in that there is potential the Magpies can make a move. However, he doubts whether Traore would fancy the switch to a relegation battle as things stand.
TBR’s View: Will Adama Traore Ever Sign For Tottenham?
It seems to change on a daily basis! But based on this from Castles, who is well connected in the footballing world, it seems nothing is imminent.
This one might end up going all the way to the end of the month. We see it happen so often. Will-he, won’t-he, all January then on the final day, a deal appears from nowhere.
Ultimately, it will come down to money for Wolves. They’ll want the best financial package and will want Tottenham – or whoever else – to commit to that.
