Alan Shearer has given an underwhelming verdict on Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko, and the Nottingham Forest clash suggests he has a point.
Casemiro put Man Utd 1-0 up against Sean Dyche’s men after 34 minutes on Saturday afternoon.
However, as they went in search of a fourth straight win under Ruben Amorim, Forest hit back with two quick goals early in the second half from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona.
Sesko started the fixture up front, and Alan Shearer’s comments about him right before the match proved to be pretty accurate.

What Alan Shearer said about Benjamin Sesko right before Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United
Peter Schmeichel questioned Sesko’s arrival at Old Trafford, but his form had improved in recent weeks.
After zero goals in his first five Premier League appearances, the 22-year-old had scored two and assisted one in his last four.
Despite this, when speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live in the build-up to the Nottingham Forest game, Shearer suggested he wasn’t too impressed with the Man Utd summer addition.
He tipped Sesko to be ‘frustrating’, claimed he’s a ‘good player’, but he isn’t ‘great’, and stated people should not get ‘too excited’.
When asked for his thoughts on the former RB Leipzig man, he said: “I would say the same with Sesko as I would with Gyokeres. I think both clubs paid an astronomical amount of money for both players, probably because of the club’s demands, and the price was hiked up.
“I think he’s a good player, I wouldn’t say he’s a great player. And I think at times he will be frustrating, and we’re always going to look at the fee, whether that’s right or wrong because that’s what’s paid for him and we have to judge him on that. I wouldn’t get too excited, I think he’s a good player.”
Benjamin Sesko stats against Nottingham Forest
A harsh verdict from the former Newcastle United striker, perhaps, but the Slovenia attacker had a disappointing afternoon against Forest.
Speaking live on Premier Sports during the game, former goalkeeper Shay Given said: “You want a bit more from Sesko, he’s been a bit baggy around the box.
“If Sesko can bring a bit more to the attack and tidy up on his centre forward play, Amorim will be happy because Mbeumo is looking sharp and Cunha is linking up well.”
Meanwhile, Sofascore made him Man Utd’s lowest-rated player from their starting eleven on Saturday.
He had three shots, none of which were on target. Sesko lost possession six times and failed to win any of his attempted aerial duels.
Like all ‘good’ players, as Shearer called him, the Man Utd centre-forward wasn’t at his best on November 1. But if the Reds want to get back to challenging for the Premier League title, they need a ‘great’ number nine.
