‘Agreement sealed’: Romano delivers brilliant Nottingham Forest transfer update on 24-year-old CL player

Fabrizio Romano has delivered an exciting update on Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi.

The 24-year-old is set to arrive in England today to complete his medical and be unveiled as Forest’s latest transfer.

Lodi would be the latest in a long line of Forest incomings this summer, and could be a ‘huge coup’ for the Reds.

Romano said on the Brazilian international: “Renan Lodi will be in England today in order to complete medical tests, sign the contract and be unveiled as new Nottingham Forest player.

“Agreement sealed during the night – here we go confirmed.

“Atlético Madrid to receive €5m fee plus €30m buy option clause.”

Romano delivers exciting Lodi update

The Brazilian appears to be very close to joining Forest on an initial loan deal, and whether Forest decide to use their option to buy will almost certainly rely on if they stay in the Premier League.

Lodi brings another level of experience at the very highest level to the City Ground.

The 24-year-old has already won 15 caps for Brazil.

He’s also played 84 games in La Liga, and has made 27 appearances in the Champions League.

Lodi has lost his place in Atletico’s side to Reinildo Mandava, and needs to leave the club to boost his chances of playing at the World Cup.

A very attacking left-back, Lodi should fit into Steve Cooper’s side comfortably as a wing-back.

A fantastic progressive passer, Lodi also pops up in attacking areas frequently, and isn’t bad in the air either.

Lodi will be up against fellow new signings Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards for a starting place in Cooper’s side.

Richards suffered a hairline fracture in pre-season, and Toffolo has made the left wing-back spot his own since arriving from Huddersfield Town.

Lodi has a level of pedigree that Toffolo can’t yet compete with, but the competition they will provide each other should benefit Forest greatly.

It’s up to Cooper to select his best side from the group of new players at the City Ground, and one pundit believes he could be sacked next month if he can’t make it work quickly.
