TalkSPORT regular and former player, Tony Cascarino, has claimed Nottingham Forest could sack Steve Cooper as early as September.
Forest have spent a fortune this summer and continue to look at signing new players as the deadline draws nearer. The Reds have captured the attention of the pundits and fans of the Premier League with their transfers, while their opening few performances have also been sound enough.

However, Cascarino has been speaking on TalkSPORT today and claimed that if things aren’t going well for Cooper in a month or so, then Forest could pull the trigger.
“If they get in any danger at all, he’ll be gone. As well as he’s done, he’ll be gone from that football club. Just look at that owner’s history with managers. It tells you he will make a real quick change if he feels it necessary. And if they have a difficult September and fine themselves in the bottom three, it wouldn’t surprise me if Steve Cooper is the first manager sacked, it really wouldn’t,” Cascarino said.
Cooper led Forest to promotion last season after taking them from the bottom to the playoffs. However, he faces a tricky task in bedding all his new players in, given the amount of new signings.
TBR’s View: Cooper Sacking Would Be Huge Surprise
You can see what Cascarino is getting at here but it would still be a massive surprise to see Marinakis sack Steve Cooper, unless something goes horribly wrong.
Cooper has transformed the entire club and much like Chris Wilder did at Sheffield United, you’d expect him to get time to make a real fist of things even if results go wrong.
Yes, there is pressure due to the amount of new faces. But Cooper got Forest up, so if he got sacked in September it would send shockwaves around the entire club.
