Chelsea have done much of their shopping this summer within England.
The Blues have already raided a Premier League side in Brighton when taking Joao Pedro in a £60m move, who followed Liam Delap to Chelsea after a sum of £30m was sent to Ipswich.
TBR Football understand Chelsea now want Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig – so their next signing may actually come from outside of England.
However, the west Londoners are still looking close to home when it comes to recruitment, and actually made a bold move for Bryan Mbeumo before his switch to Manchester United was confirmed.
Chelsea swooped for Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United announced the £71m signing of the Cameroon international on Monday evening.
However, negotiations with Brentford dragged on for several weeks, and Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News believes Chelsea felt they had a chance of hijacking talks late on.
The respected journalist wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Manchester United unhappy with how Brentford conducted themselves during negotiations for Mbeumo.
“Felt as though they wanted him to go to Spurs or Newcastle. Arsenal showed interest and Chelsea made a late attempt but Mbeumo always wanted to go to United.”
Manchester United could now bid for Senne Lammens after signing the Cameroonian forward – with HLN in Belgium claiming that Royal Antwerp are expecting an offer.
Chelsea could still sign a different Manchester United player in Alejandro Garnacho
While Mbeumo will not be joining Chelsea anytime soon, Alejandro Garnacho could.
TBR Football understand Chelsea recently reignited talks with Manchester United over a move for the Argentina international, after receiving £52m from Arsenal for the signing of Noni Madueke.
Garnacho is surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim, and his representatives are working to find the South American a new club – Manchester United hope to receive £40m for their academy graduate.
