Chelsea target Xavi Simons is itching to move to the Premier League this summer, TBR Football can reveal.
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side have already made some stellar additions this summer — Joao Pedro immediately impressed at the Club World Cup, and Jamie Gittens is raring to go in pre-season.
And on the back of their success in the United States, Chelsea are now one of a number of clubs considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.
Chelsea have good PSR headroom thanks to their win against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, and some of those funds might be put towards a move for Simons.
Of course, Chelsea aren’t the only Premier League side taking an interest in the Dutch international, who is keen to move to England.
Xavi Simons is keen to come to the Premier League amid Chelsea interest
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are all interested in signing Simons before the end of August.
Simons’ camp have begun to revisit the clubs who previously showed an interest in the attacking midfielder.

Liverpool are also fans of Simons’ skill-set, however, they have not revisited his situation just yet.
The issue for most of the clubs mentioned is Leipzig’s £60m asking price.
Leipzig wanted big money for Benjamin Sesko when Arsenal came knocking earlier this summer, and they’re keen to recoup a big fee for his Dutch teammate as well.
Sharing more insight, Bailey explained: “Simons is a player that has a lot of fans, especially in England.
“Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all like the player and have had talks, but nothing more than that at this point – he is one of a number of options being considered.
“Simons’ people are starting to make a push as the player wants the move, and does not want to wait all summer.
“I would not rule out him staying in Germany, though, Bayern haven’t made a move but they are keeping an eye on him.”
Xavi Simons scored more league goals than Eberechi Eze last season
Of course, all of the names mentioned above have also been linked with a Premier League number 10 at some point this summer, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
Chelsea have looked at Eze themselves, and whilst the 27-year-old would clearly be an excellent signing for any top English side, Simons actually scored more goals in fewer games last season.
| Games | Minutes | Goals | Assists | |
| Eberechi Eze | 34 | 2,603 | 8 | 8 |
| Xavi Simons | 25 | 2,157 | 10 | 7 |
Positionally the pair do have a similar profile, both are predominantly number tens who are able to drift out wide on the left when appropriate.
But considering that Simons is much younger at 21 years old, perhaps Chelsea will see the Dutchman as a better opportunity to invest.
As mentioned, Simons’ lofty price tag is proving prohibitive for interested sides right now, but perhaps Leipzig might soften their stance as the summer goes on.
