'Absolutely incredible': Conor Coady raves about £20m player Tottenham and Newcastle want to sign
Maddison is one of the Magpies’ top January targets, after interest in the summer which they did not manage to get over the line.
Tottenham’s interest seems more speculative, and there is not a clear role for the playmaker within Antonio Conte’s team, but his invention is something that they need.
Maddison was included in England’s squad for the World Cup and Coady was asked about him at a press conference before Monday’s game with Iran.
Coady on Maddison
Coady said: “He’s been fantastic around the camp, Madders.
“We’ve seen around the camp the last couple of days the quality he has.
“I played against him two or three weeks ago for Everton and the quality he’s got is absolutely incredible.
“Fantastic player, fantastic person, who’s going to be massive for us in this competition.”
Coady was asked about Maddison missing England’s training session today (Thursday) and said he thinks it was just a precaution.
Maddison limped out of Leicester’s 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday on the final Premier League weekend before the World Cup.
But he was fit to make it onto the plane and the £20 million man will hope to be back in training as soon as possible and able to make an impact in Qatar.
