Destiny Udogie is expected to start for Tottenham in the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

So, what is the latest on Destiny Udogie at Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Destiny Udogie expected to start for Tottenham vs Crystal Palace

Well – according to the Evening Standard – the Italy international is set to make a return for Spurs tomorrow.

Udogie missed the 2-1 defeat to Wolves last time out with a knee injury, and also would have missed a clash against Chelsea, had it not been postponed due to the Carabao Cup final.

Now – however – the Tottenham No.38 is set to return to the starting XI in what would be a major boost for Ange Postecoglou.

The 21-year-old has arguably been one of Tottenham’s most important players so far this season, thriving in an inverted wing-back role under the Australian.

Udogie – who Guglielmo Vicario called an “absolutely brilliant” footballer – has scored two goals and provided three assists in 21 Premier League appearances, and provides a seriously dangerous outlet for Tottenham down the left flank.

Ben Davies likely to drop out

It was Ben Davies who deputised for Udogie in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

While the reliable Wales international delivered an assured performance – as he usually does – there is a vast difference in what Udogie brings to the side.

The Italian is significantly quicker and possesses far stronger dribbling skills, making him a much better fit for that position in Postecoglou’s system.

As WhoScored shows, Udogie averages 0.8 dribbles and one key pass per game in the Premier League this season, whereas Davies averages 0.2 dribbles and 0.3 key passes every 90 minutes.

Hopefully, the man from Verona really is fit enough to start against Crystal Palace – especially as Pedro Porro is a doubt for the London derby.
