£130k-a-week Tottenham star a doubt to play against Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro appears to be a big doubt for Spurs’ next Premier League encounter.

The Tottenham full-back missed the game against Wolves a fortnight ago due to a muscle strain he picked up in training.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said of Porro‘s fitness last week: “Probably a couple of weeks for him. With the game break hopefully, he doesn’t miss too many.”

However, with Tottenham’s Saturday meeting with Crystal Palace now looming, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that the 24-year-old will feature.

The Evening Standard reported on Wednesday that Porro “is yet to return to work with the group”.

And on Thursday, Paul O’Keefe provided a fresh update on the 24-year-old which sadly isn’t looking positive for this weekend.

“Porro struggling for the weekend and might not make it,” O’Keefe wrote on X. “Will be a close call on Pedro.”

Pedro Porro absence would be huge blow for Spurs

Porro has been a key player for Tottenham this season, the £130,000-a-week man’s style of play suiting the Ange-ball system down to the ground.

The ‘fantastic‘ full-back has been instrumental both at the back for Spurs and in attack, with an impressive eight assists in the Premier League this term.

The likelihood is Emerson Royal will continue in Porro’s place, and he’ll need to really step it up, as he looked off the pace against Wolves.

Let’s see what happens over the coming days. If Porro definitely isn’t fit even to make the bench, then let’s hope Emerson can cover well against Palace.
