Report: 'Extraordinary' ace remains top target for Aston Villa; club had bid rejected last week

Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe is still the top target in the number 10 department for Aston Villa, according to The Athletic.

The Villains have been chasing the signing of the 20-year-old all summer long. Dean Smith’s side have had two bid rejected for the playmaker. Villa’s offers of £25m and £30m have been turned down by the Gunners, who are adamant the ace isn’t for sale.

Smith Rowe enjoyed a breakthrough season last campaign, scoring four times and registering seven assists across all competitions.

Arsenal are trying to extend the ace’s contract, however, their inability to reach a deal in recent weeks has given Villa hope.

But, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Londoners have reached a verbal agreement. Smith Rowe will sign the deal when he returns from his holidays.

Aston Villa chase of Smith Rowe bordering on insanity amid Smith Rowe top target claims

The first bid seemed like some sort of power play by the Midlanders. Almost as if they wanted to prove a point to their fans about their seriousness.

They then went and splashed £33m on Emiliano Buendia in what was a true show of competitiveness.

Then a second bid for the Croydon-born ace went in and you’re thinking: ‘what’s going on?’

The chase of Smith Rowe from Aston Villa is bordering on insanity amid claims he’s their top number 10 target.

Just a simple analysis of the situation shows you the Villa Park outfit have no chance of signing him.

He’s currently playing week in, week out for one of the biggest clubs in England. Whilst, the club didn’t finish in the European places, they’re able to offer a higher level of quality than Villa.

You can only fool your own fans for so long before they realise the true extent of the situation.

It proves confusing as to why the boat keeps getting pushed out on Villa’s seriousness about signing Smith Rowe.

The club have no chance.
