Report shares Villa stance as Arsenal reject Emile Smith Rowe bid
Aston Villa are not planning to admit defeat in their pursuit of Emile Smith Rowe after Arsenal rejected their second bid for the 20-year-old, according to a report from the Express and Star.
Villa launched a £30 million offer for the attacking midfielder in the last few days. That came after they had already seen a £25 million bid turned down by the Gunners.
Arsenal are looking to agree a new contract with Smith Rowe. So it is no surprise that they snubbed the latest offer.
Nevertheless, it appears that Villa are not going away. According to the Express and Star, Dean Smith’s men are reluctant to give up on trying to sign Smith Rowe.
So perhaps, it should come as no surprise if a third bid is being considered.
Villa surely doing themselves no favours with current approach to Emile Smith Rowe pursuit
It was previously claimed that Arsenal would not accept £75 million for Smith Rowe – triple what Villa initially offered.
Even if that proves to be an exaggeration, it highlights just how far the Villans probably are away from reaching an agreement.
So surely their current approach is only hurting their chances of completing a deal.
Admittedly, they may be hoping that Smith Rowe starts to push for a move. But as things stand, that seems unlikely.
So a deal will be incredibly difficult unless Villa are prepared to break the bank.
And given that these offers of around £25 million and £30 million are only likely to frustrate Arsenal, perhaps it is fair to assume that his asking price is only going up as each bid comes in.
