Edson Alvarez has admitted he’s always open to leaving West Ham United despite only joining the club in the summer.

In an interview with German outlet Sky Sport, the 26-year-old was speaking about his move in the summer.

There would have been plenty of worried fans at the London Stadium this summer when it became clear Declan Rice was departing.

The 24-year-old was his club’s talisman and led them to an iconic Europa Conference League victory at the end of last season.

David Moyes had plenty of cash to spend when he eventually departed and took his time to bring the right players in alongside Tim Steidten.

In the end, they decided on James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez as the pair required to replace the England international.

It appears to have been a stroke of genius at this early stage with the Hammers looking like an even more complete outfit this season.

However, Alvarez has already said that he’s always open to leaving West Ham if the right offer comes along.

He’s admitted that he’s very happy in London right now, but the calibre of teams sniffing around might make it difficult to resist moving on.

The Hammers fought off Borussia Dortmund to sign the Mexican international in the summer.

It’s their biggest rivals that might end up turning the 26-year-old’s head in the future.

Alvarez always open to leaving West Ham

Asked about interest from Bayern Munich, Alvarez said: “It was a very exciting summer for me. Then, in the last weeks of the transfer window, I found out about FC Bayern’s interest.

“Anything can happen. I’m always open, but at the moment I’m really enjoying my time at West Ham.

“I want to play and show people my best qualities. But in the summer you never know what will happen.”

Alvarez has been brilliant for West Ham but it’s way too soon for him to be considering leaving already.

He’s managed to escape a potential relegation scrap at Ajax in the summer but Moyes will be hoping he sticks around for longer than 12 months.

However, West Ham have shown they’re capable of replacing the likes of Declan Rice and would be confident of replacing Alvarez too.

If he can help them qualify for Europe once again and earn the Hammers a profit then the right deal might potentially appeal to the club.
