Mikel Arteta and Edu are currently making plans ahead of the summer transfer window, with both appearing to be focusing on the centre of the pitch for Arsenal.

The Gunners have been linked with towering strikers such as Viktor Gyokeres.

In the centre of defence, Arsenal are also believed to be keen on signing one of Marc Guehi or Jarrad Branthwaite.

Elsewhere, in central midfield, there is said to be strong interest in Everton No.8 Amadou Onana – Spanish news outlet SPORT even believe Edu has left a £51m bid on the table for the Belgian.

However – if a move does materialise – Arsenal may have to deal with a situation…

Amadou Onana fights with Declan Rice

Well – if Arsenal do manage to sign Onana – Arteta might need to get him and Declan Rice to make up.

The pair of midfield giants were seen clashing in the latter stages of England’s 2-2 draw against Belgium on Tuesday evening, squaring up before Jude Bellingham separated them.

In truth, Onana actually makes Rice look small – which very few footballers are capable of.

The towering 6ft 4in Belgium international loomed over the 6ft 1in England international, as a war of words continued even after the pair stopped squaring up.

No official media outlet clipped the footage for social media, although you can see the moment here.

Arsenal would be unstoppable in midfield

If Edu can find a way to bring Onana to the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal would be utterly formidable in the centre of midfield.

A partnership as physical as Onana and Rice would be frightening stuff for opponents, while both also possess the technical ability to hurt teams with effective forward passes.

The Everton colossus is also just 22 years of age – three years younger than the Arsenal No.41 – so the Gunners would have a midfield duo for the next decade if they can pair these two together.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation going into the summer, as Everton may be forced to sell Onana after breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.
