‘Scored a lot of goals’… Bruno Fernandes says 25-year-old Arsenal target is clinical

Bruno Fernandes has now spoken very highly about a player Arsenal want to sign this summer – amid reports.

The Portugal international made the comments during an interview with A Bola.

So, who is the Arsenal target Bruno Fernandes has praised? Let’s take a look…

Bruno Fernandes hails Viktor Gyokeres

Well – according to Football Transfers – Arsenal have made Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres their No.1 target for the summer transfer window.

A story from Milan Live even claims that Arsenal are ready to trigger the Sporting CP No.9’s €100m (£85m) release clause to fend off interest from AC Milan.

It comes as no surprise whatsoever to see Arsenal taking a look at Gyokeres – he has remarkably scored 36 goals and assisted a further 14 in just 39 appearances this season.

Now, Fernandes has named the 25-year-old as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga.

The Manchester United No.8 said: “There are naturally many players in good shape. Gyokeres is one of them, he has scored a lot of goals.”

It has been a stunning adjustment to life in Lisbon for the Swede – who was playing his football for Coventry last season before a £20m move to Sporting CP in July 2023.

Arsenal are watching the 25-year-old very closely

By the sounds of it, the Gunners are obsessed with Gyokeres.

Arsenal have apparently sent scouts to watch the Stockholm-born striker on five occasions recently, and appear to be going all in with Mikel Arteta becoming less keen on a deal for Brentford No.17 Ivan Toney.

It has been suggested that the Spaniard wants a different type of striker to the England international.

Therefore, Gyokeres certainly sounds like Arteta’s preferred option right now.

Potential competition from Chelsea

Arsenal have already been burned by Chelsea once in the transfer market after losing out on Mykhailo Mudryk back in January 2023.

It is unlikely to happen with Gyokeres as Chelsea find themselves at risk of breaking the Premier League’s financial rules, although according to Give Me Sport, the Blues see the Swedish forward as an ideal fit and would love to sign him.

Therefore, if Chelsea find a way to make significant sales and free up some spending money, the west Londoners could battle Arsenal for Gyokeres this summer.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as more clubs could get involved if the Sporting CP talisman continues this remarkable run of form.
