Four talented young players are among the Arsenal squad Mikel Arteta has named for his pre-season tour of Germany.

Chris Wheatley has reported that Salah Oulad M’hand, Lino Sousa, Charlie Patino and Reuell Walters have gone with the Gunners’ party.

Some of the players who played international football in the period after the Premier League season ended are just coming back.

They could be a little bit behind in their fitness work, and that means that some young players are needed to fill the gaps and perhaps play some games.

Arsenal head off for pre-season

It has been reported that talented midfielder Patino is among the prospects that Arteta is earmarking for gametime in the Europa League next season.

Walters is just 17 and what an opportunity it is for him to show what he can do in Germany in front of Arteta and his coaches.

It was reported last month that Sousa could go on the pre-season training camp and get a chance to impress and that is exactly what has happened.

Some Arsenal fans will be hoping that their club makes some signings while their players are being put through their paces in Germany.

Lisandro Martinez or Youri Tielemans could yet come through the door to bolster Arteta’s options as he goes in search of a Champions League spot next season.

But meanwhile, some of the club’s young players have an opportunity to show what they can do now and it is down to them to take it.
