Zaniolo open to Spurs move; wants to play in Premier League - journalist
Journalist Ben Jacobs has told The Last Word On Spurs Podcast that Nicolo Zaniolo wants to play in the Premier League and Champions League, with fresh talks between Tottenham and Roma set to take place in the coming days.
Spurs continue to be linked with a move for Zaniolo. Reports have previously claimed that the attacking midfielder is Antonio Conte’s dream signing.
And Tottenham have seemingly made a statement of intent. It has been suggested that they have previously offered £25 million and Joe Rodon. However, Roma rejected that bid.
And it was not clear just how keen Zaniolo was to join Tottenham. Reports have claimed that he was on the verge of signing a new contract with the Giallorossi.
However, that may not be the case after all. In fact, Jacobs has now claimed that Zaniolo is very interested in a move to Tottenham. And talks between Spurs and the Serie A side will take place in the very near future.
“He is open to a Tottenham move. And he’s valued, I would say, somewhere around about the €50-€55 million mark. And that’s what Tottenham are looking at. It may take a little bit more. But there’s concrete substance to the links,” he told The Last Word On Spurs Podcast.
“And Tottenham, after they’ve prioritised the outgoings, could well swoop in.
“Mourinho doesn’t want to lose the player. But as talks progress, it’s becoming very, very clear that Zaniolo relishes the opportunity to play in the Champions League – and Roma don’t have that – and also, the Premier League. New discussions are going to take place, possibly this week, but certainly over the coming days.”
Zaniolo wants to play in the Premier League
Signing Zaniolo would arguably the best way for Tottenham to round off what has been an amazing window. They have made a number of superb signings. And they look to be on their way towards offloading some of their unwanted players.
Zaniolo is an ‘incredible‘ talent. And clearly, he is only going to move for a marquee fee. But the good news is a move to Tottenham will seemingly appeal to the 23-year-old.
Perhaps, judging by Jacobs’s claim, supporters will get a better idea of whether a deal could be possible in the next few days.
