Report: Spurs target Nicolò Zaniolo about to sign new Roma contract
Tottenham Hotspur may be on the verge of being dealt a big blow, with RomaGiallorossa reporting that Nicolò Zaniolo is about to sign a new contract with Roma.
Zaniolo appears to be one of the names near the top of Fabio Paratici’s wishlist ahead of the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
Reports have previously suggested that Antonio Conte dreams of using Zaniolo in the same team as Harry Kane. Meanwhile, it was claimed last week that Spurs bid £25 million for the 23-year-old. The offer would have also seen Joe Rodon move to the Italian capital.
However, Roma turned down that bid. And it seems that they may be about to put an end to speculation surrounding Zaniolo – for this window, at least.
According to RomaGiallorossa, Zaniolo is ready to sign a new contract with Roma. His situation has changed and he will now pen a three-year deal which includes an option for a fourth year.
Meanwhile, he will earn over £65,000-a-week plus bonuses.
Zaniolo about to sign new contract with Roma
The news concerning Zaniolo may be bittersweet for Tottenham fans. Obviously, many will be extremely disappointed that he is signing a new deal.
However, the update has left Spurs with plenty of time to pursue other names. And one thing Fabio Paratici does incredibly well is spin many plates at once.
They will have other names in mind. But it also means that Zaniolo will not be heading elsewhere this summer.
That surely makes a future move much more likely than if he had joined another club in this window.
Conte will wish that Tottenham had been able to agree a deal for Zaniolo. But Spurs can still find the signing that will provide the icing on the cake after what has been a brilliant window.
