Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner had a fine game for the USA against England at the World Cup last night, and Gunners old-boy Yunus Musah was really impressed.
The 28-year-old is America’s number one these days. He was brilliant against Wales in his side’s opening fixture, and he impressed everyone against England last night as well.

Yunus Musah impressed by Arsenal star Matt Turner’s World Cup display
Turner didn’t have a lot to do against England last night, but when he was called upon, he stepped up.
The biggest chance Gareth Southgate’s side had in the entire game was when Mason Mount had a pop at goal just before half-time. The Chelsea man thought he had scored, but Turner pulled off a truly magnificent save to keep the score 0-0.
As impressive as that save was, what caught many fans’ eye was his distribution. Turner struggled with that area of the game in his first two appearances for Arsenal, but he has come a long way since.
One of his long volleyed passes to Christian Pulisic reminded us of what Aaron Ramsdale does every week at Arsenal, which shows that the American has hugely benefitted from moving to the Emirates.
Musah, who spent seven years as an Arsenal player before leaving in 2019, had a decent game in midfield last night, but it looks like he’s more impressed with Turner’s ‘crazy’ display against England.
“Crazy with it,” Musah commented on Turner’s Instagram post, while fellow American footballer Collin Martin wrote: “Top top player! Keep it up my dude.”

Why did Yunus Musah leave Arsenal?
Musah was one of the most talented players in Arsenal’s youth academy when he was there. Everyone believed he’d be a top player for the club, but in 2019, he rejected the Gunners’ contract offer and walked away for free.
His agent, Giacomo Guidolin, revealed recently that he was the one who convinced Musah to leave Arsenal: “I really influenced: I convinced his family to make the right choice. I understood that this was the best project to get to the first team as soon as possible, due to his football characteristics, culture, the way of life there in Spain. In Spain I knew he would be great: there he could become devastating.”
At Valencia now, Musah is one of their gems. They see him as a superstar for the future and his contract is protected by a £90 million release clause (Daily Mail).
The young American has claimed that he’d be open to a return to Arsenal one day. Whether the Gunners want him back, though, remains to be seen.
