‘You’re the best’: Joe Willock amazed by Newcastle United teammate's display after cup win last night

Newcastle United took one step closer to finally winning some silverware last night when they defeated Leicester City.

Hometown hero Dan Burn and Joelinton were on the score sheet as the Magpies comfortably dispatched Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Joe Willock took to Instagram yesterday to congratulate one of his Newcastle teammates after the match.

The consistency of Newcastle’s team has been very impressive this season.

Eddie Howe knows he can rely on his first-choice side to step up and perform whenever called upon this season.

The likes of Burn and Joelinton are arguably playing the best football of their careers right now.

They’re not the only ones, with Miguel Almiron being one of the surprise packages in the Premier League.

One player whose quality has been obvious from the moment he arrived at St. James’ Park is Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian was awarded the player of the match award last night, and ran the show once again.

Guimaraes helped Newcastle progress to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup yesterday with another assured performance.

He could be Howe’s most important player this season, and it’s hard to see how Newcastle could ever replace him right now.

The 25-year-old took to Instagram after yesterday’s match, posting a picture of him holding his award.

‘Thanks for everything in my life! Living my dreams here’, Guimaraes said.

Willock replied underneath, saying to his midfield partner, ‘Your [You’re] the best bro’.

The pair, alongside Sean Longstaff, have formed a dynamic trio in the middle of the park that’s been hard to stop.

Willock’s bursting runs into the box have been rewarded by some fantastic passes from Guimaraes in recent games.

It’s only a matter of time until he’s back on the score sheet again given the service he’s being provided.

Howe described Guimaraes as ‘hugely important’ after his Carabao Cup display last night.

He could just be the key to Newcastle ending their long wait for some silverware this season.
