Mikel Arteta faced the media today ahead of his side’s game against Watford and the Arsenal boss raved about Thomas Partey.
The Gunners splashed £45 million in the summer of 2020 to sign the Ghanaian from Atletico Madrid (Sky Sports). Partey was viewed by many as the missing piece in Arsenal’s puzzle, but injuries have been really cruel on him.
Since joining Arsenal just 17 months ago, Partey has missed 21 games due to injury. That’s shocking considering that he only missed six fixtures due to fitness issues in his entire career before moving to the Emirates.
Thankfully for Arteta and Arsenal fans, Partey has remained fit for a while now and everyone’s seeing the best of him.
Mikel Arteta: Thomas Partey scores belters in Arsenal training
One of the running jokes at Arsenal is Partey’s shooting.
We all know he’s capable of the spectacular, but whenever he has lined up a long-range effort, the ball has flown over the bar and into the stands.
Arteta was asked about that in his press conference today and the Arsenal boss, surprisingly, claimed that Partey scores stunners in the training all the time.
He said, as per Arsenal.com: “He is practising and some of the goals he scores in training, you would be amazed! You won’t believe me probably, so you will have to see one of those soon going into the net.”

TBR View:
Thomas Partey isn’t really expected to score a lot of goals for Arsenal. Now that he’s been given a much deeper role than before, his chances of finding the net have become even smaller.
The Ghanaian has only scored once for Arsenal and that was a header from a corner.
However, if Arteta’s words are anything to go by, we could really see a long-range belter from Partey very soon.
Arsenal take on Watford on Sunday and Partey, who has been brilliant recently, is almost guaranteed to start again.
