Some Spurs fans have welcomed the report claiming Tanguy Ndombele is to fight for his Tottenham place and could be back by next week.

The 24-year-old was Spurs’ record signing in July 2019, joining the north Londoners for a reported £54million.

However, Ndombele’s time at Tottenham hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing throughout.

After a difficult first season at Tottenham, Ndombele emerged as a regular starter under Jose Mourinho last term.

However, the Frenchman dropped back to the bench under Ryan Mason and has been out of contention under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Indeed, Ndombele hasn’t made a single matchday squad this season, and was reportedly close to leaving in summer.

That said, Nuno did name the Frenchman in his Europa Conference League squad, which shows he’s not been frozen out entirely.

Now, the Evening Standard claims Ndombele has spoken to Nuno and managing director Fabio Paratici since the window closed.

He has accepted that he needs to work hard to return to the side and could be back for the ECL clash with Rennes next Thursday, added the report.

And this has gone down well with many Spurs fans who want to see him succeed:
