Report: Spurs working to offload Tanguy Ndombele in swap deal
Spurs are working to agree a swap deal that sees Tanguy Ndombele leave the club in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic.
Ndombele’s future looks to lie away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Frenchman is yet to feature for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season.
The Athletic notes that he is keen to leave. In fact, it is suggested that the midfielder believes that he is good enough to secure a move to one of Europe’s giants: Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
And Spurs are not looking to stand in his way. According to The Athletic, Fabio Paratici is working on trying to engineer a swap deal that involves Ndombele moving on.
Of course, that will not be easy. The 24-year-old cost Tottenham £55 million when he signed from Lyon. Meanwhile, he reportedly earns £200,000-a-week.
So finding a club to finance a deal will be particularly tricky at this stage of this window.
Unfortunately, it does appear that the writing is on the wall for Ndombele.
Could transfer deadline passing inspire turnaround for Ndombele at Spurs amid swap reports?
Tottenham may want to move Ndombele on. But it does seem that they have a hugely difficult task on their hands finding a buyer.
That may mean that Ndombele ends up staying simply because they fail to find a club able to finance a move.
If that is the case, the transfer deadline could act as a pivotal moment.
Ndombele faces two choices at that point: he either continues to make it clear that he wants to go and remains on the sidelines, or he starts pushing his way into Nuno’s plans.
The amazing thing about Ndombele is he clearly has the quality to change his situation almost instantaneously.
One game-changing display could start to alter everything – as long as it is followed by a few more.
So while his future does currently look bleak, perhaps Ndombele becoming a key part of Nuno’s side should not be ruled out either.
