‘Yes please’, ‘Cough it up’: Some Arsenal fans react to links with £50m-rated star

Arsenal are being linked with Brighton’s Ben White this summer – and some Gunners fans on Twitter claim they want to sign him.

The Daily Mail says that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all interested in the defender. However, Brighton will try to fend off suitors.

Brighton may reportedly find it too difficult to turn down an offer though if it reaches their £50million price tag for the centre-back.

White, 23, is part of the 26-man England squad for Euro 2020. Fortunately, he’s been the individual drafted in to replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold so has had to cancel any summer plans.

Brighton’s ball-playing centre-half has caught the eye in his first two senior appearances for England and because of defensive frailties he may be needed this tournament in the heart of defence for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Arsenal would be overpaying for Ben White at £50million

Obviously, White is a massive talent that could end up having a breakout tournament this summer at the Euros.

If you look at him at face value though, his £50million valuation is surely only so high because he’s English.

Brighton may eventually lose the extremely promising defender, who is capable in the Premier League and should keep getting better. But Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal don’t need to prioritise him.

For the Gunners, they should be targeting a right-back and the midfield because they are obvious weak spots. The north London club must redeem themselves next year. It’s been a season to forget at the Emirates Stadium this year.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media though want to take the £50million gamble on White ahead of next season:
