‘Wow’: Aaron Ramsdale claims £8.5m defender actually has the most powerful shot out of every Arsenal player

Aaron Ramsdale has claimed that Nuno Tavares is the player with the most powerful shot in training at Arsenal.

The young Portuguese full-back has had an up and down debut season in England. He started off brilliantly and even kept Kieran Tierney out of the side for a few games in the first half of the campaign.

Things, however, have been a lot more difficult since the turn of the year for Tavares. He has struggled at times, but it has to be said that he has improved massively by training under Mikel Arteta over the last 10 months.

Ramsdale says Nuno Tavares has the most powerful shot at Arsenal

If you run up to an Arsenal fan on the street and ask them to name the player with the most powerful shot at the club, almost everybody will say Granit Xhaka.

Ramsdale, however, believes Tavares shoots a lot harder than the Swiss international.

Asked who’s got the hardest shot at the club, the Englishman said in a video on F2 Freestylers’ YouTube channel: “Tavares, wow!

“Right foot, left foot, 40 yards away or 20 yards away, he just whacks it. No mercy.”

That’s a surprise

Tavares has played 27 times in all competitions for the Gunners this season and has only scored once. That goal came against Manchester United this year, and it needed no power whatsoever.

The 22-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Benfica in a deal that could rise to £8.5 million (Standard), has had a few pops at goal from a long way out this season, but almost all of those have ended up in the stands.

Arsenal fans have often been frustrated by Tavares’ decision to shoot from distance, but if Ramsdale says he has more power in his shots than anyone else at the club, maybe, Gunners supporters should be a bit more patient with him.

Arsenal take on Everton on the final day of the season and Tavares is expected to start at left-back.
