'Would improve us massively': Some Spurs fans drool over £25.7m striker's Euro 2020 display amid links

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Wout Weghorst after the reported Tottenham transfer target helped the Netherlands to victory in their Euro 2020 opener.

In the game of the tournament so far, Frank De Boer’s men beat Ukraine 3-2 in Amsterdam.

The Dutch had taken a 2-0 lead. However, they were pegged back. But there was one final twist in store, with Denzel Dumfries bagging a late winner.

Weghorst had doubled their lead shortly after the opener. He managed to squeeze the ball past the goalkeeper from around 12 yards out.

It was the 28-year-old’s second international goal. And it appears that it is unlikely to have escaped the attention of a number of Premier League sides.

The Athletic recently reported that Spurs are one of several English sides monitoring Weghorst. West Ham and Newcastle were also linked with the striker.

The report suggested that a fee of around £25.7 million this summer would be enough.

And it appears that plenty of Spurs fans would love to see him brought in.

Weghorst went into this tournament off the back of another outstanding domestic campaign. He bagged 25 goals in all competitions for Wolfsburg.

And amid doubts over Harry Kane’s future, many felt that Weghorst proved with his display that he is one player Tottenham must seriously look at in this window.
