Report: West Ham and Tottenham can sign Bundesliga star for £25m

Tottenham and West Ham will need to pay £25 million to land Wout Weghorst this summer, according to The Athletic.

Both clubs held preliminary talks last year and the London rivals could go head-to-head for his signature this summer.

Tottenham could find themselves in the market for a couple of strikers.

If Harry Kane departs they will have a huge void to fill, whereas they’ll need a backup to the 27-year-old if they can tempt him to stay.

West Ham will also enter the market. They allowed Sebastien Haller to leave in January and will seek a replacement.

Weghorst has just two years left on his contract with Wolfsburg and they could cash in this summer.

He is on the back of a tremendous season and heads to Euro 2020 with Holland bang in form.

Weghorst fired 25 goals and claimed nine assists, firing his team into a top-four finish in the Bundesliga.

Naturally, that will alert teams towards his services and The Athletic has now claimed the valuation which would tempt Wolfsburg into a sale.

West Ham will have the Europa League to entice new signings, whilst Tottenham will only be playing in the Europa Conference League.

That could be a factor which Weghorst takes into consideration when plotting his next move.

Tottenham or West Ham: Both clubs provide attractive propositions for Weghorst

Both clubs have pretty significant pulling power and there will probably be other competition too.

Perhaps West Ham could be the ideal destination for the talisman though.

He would walk into the London Stadium and be pretty much guaranteed a starting berth.

As long as Kane is in place at Spurs, he would always be second fiddle.

Given the numbers that Daniel Levy wants for the England talisman it’s hardly nailed on that he will leave the club this summer.

Having enjoyed a stunning campaign in Germany, the player must go wherever he thinks he will play the most football.

Right now, that looks like West Ham.
