‘Would be a welcome addition for Arsenal’: Gunners-linked ‘astonishing’ 23-year-old winger backed to shine at N5

Arsenal have enjoyed a fruitful summer transfer window so far.

However, a new senior winger continues to elude the Gunners.

Arsenal have been linked with Raphinha, Raheem Sterling and Serge Gnabry over the past few weeks.

However, the first two have joined other clubs, while Gnabry is reportedly penning a new Bayern Munich deal.

Another winger who has reportedly been on the radar of Arsenal is Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

In May, L’Equipe claimed that the Gunners, Spurs and Newcastle were all interested in the 23-year-old.

More recently, journalist Pete O’Rourke suggested – just before Raphinha completed his Barcelona move – Arsenal could now turn their attentions to Diaby.

“Diaby is probably on the list of a number of top clubs who are looking at attacking wingers this summer,” he told GiveMeSport.

“And I’m sure Arsenal are no different.

“Obviously, they tried for Raphinha, but it looks like he wants only to join Barcelona.

“So I’m sure they’re looking at other potential targets.

“And Diaby, as I said, will be on the list of a lot of top clubs because he’s been a proven performer for Leverkusen and also for France.”

“Newcastle are also very keen”

Jacobs, also writing on GiveMeSport, seems to agree with O’Rourke.

At the same time, he’s not sure the Bundesliga club would do a deal this summer.

“Someone like Moussa Diaby would be a welcome addition for Arsenal,” said Jacobs.

“Newcastle are also very keen, but it’s not yet clear if Bayer Leverkusen will sell.”

Diaby was a star for Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions – more than any Arsenal player.

However, Leverkusen have slapped an eye-watering £60million price tag on their star attacker, which has complicated things.

Nonetheless, the ‘astonishing’ winger no doubt has a huge future in the game and would be an asset for Arsenal.
