Journalist suggests Arsenal could now make move to sign £60m Moussa Diaby instead of Raphinha
Football journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that Arsenal may make a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby after their attempts to sign Raphinha didn’t go too far.
The Gunners have had a decent transfer window this summer. Mikel Arteta has brought in Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and of course, Gabriel Jesus, but the Arsenal boss isn’t done just yet.
Arsenal are still on the hunt for a left-sided defender, a central midfielder and a wide player. Leeds United star Raphinha looked like the top target for the latter, but that deal seems to have collapsed.
The Evening Standard claimed this week that the Brazilian has snubbed both Arsenal and Tottenham. Chelsea are reportedly the favourites to sign him now, which may force Arsenal to look elsewhere. O’Rourke thinks that ‘elsewhere’ may be Germany.

Moussa Diaby is on Arsenal’s wish list after Raphinha snub
Diaby has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while now. Newcastle United looked like the club most interested in his services, but after Raphinha snubbed Arsenal, the Gunners may make a move to sign him.
O’Rourke told GiveMeSport: “Diaby is probably on the list of a number of top clubs who are looking at attacking wingers this summer, and I’m sure Arsenal are no different.
“Obviously, they tried for Raphinha, but it looks like he wants only to join Barcelona, so I’m sure they’re looking at other potential targets.
“And Diaby, as I said, will be on the list of a lot of top clubs because he’s been a proven performer for Leverkusen and also for France.”
Diaby really is a phenomenal winger.
The 23-year-old was a star for Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions – more than any Arsenal player.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for the talented France international, but Leverkusen have slapped an eye-watering £60 million price tag on their star attacker, which has complicated things.
It will be interesting to see where Diaby will end up this summer, but wherever he goes, he has the potential to become a superstar there.
