Liverpool could be about to make a surprise signing of nowhere and the player in question has indeed been dropped from his current squad.
The Reds have had a painfully slow transfer window and have yet to make a single signing.
Liverpool are close to signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia but that deal will not really come into fruition until 2025.
However, there are suggestions a new forward, defender, and possibly a midfielder are on Arne Slot’s shopping list.
And after reports tonight suggested Liverpool were keen on signing Juventus star Federico Chiesa, it now looks like there could be something in that report.
Federico Chiesa out of Juventus squad after being linked with Liverpool
Juventus are taking on Verona tonight in Serie A and interestingly for Liverpool fans, there is indeed no sign of Chiesa.
The Italian winger, in fairness, has been left out for most of pre-season and there has been constant rumour over where his future may lie.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked with moves for Chiesa but with Liverpool now apparently in talks, his absence tonight perks more interest.
Chiesa has long been on Liverpool’s radar and it looks like they might well pull something out of nowhere.
Liverpool pulled a similar trick a few seasons back when they signed Luis Diaz out of nowhere.
Chiesa gives Liverpool yet more threat
As if Liverpool don’t have enough with the likes of Salah, Jota, Gakpo, Nunez and Diaz up top, adding Chiesa gives them even more firepower.
The idea of adding Chiesa’s speed and directness to this Liverpool side is something that should excite the Anfield faithful.
Arne Slot’s start to life as Liverpool boss has gone well.
And now, if he can add the ‘world-class‘ Chiesa to the ranks, Liverpool’s title charge could well and truly be on.
