Wolves transfer: Club reportedly eye 28-year-old Leicester player and ace in Southgate's squad if star leaves Molineux

A report from The Athletic has shared two transfer targets Wolves have on their radar should Rui Patricio leave Molineux during the summer window.

Patricio has been heavily linked with a move away to Roma. He has been a superb servant for Wolves over the last three years.

The Athletic reports that he had been expected to join the Giallorossi. But perhaps, there could be a surprise twist in store.

According to the report, Bruno Lage would like Patricio to stay following his appointment. So it will be interesting to see whether the 33-year-old does stick around.

But, wisely, Wolves are prepared in case the Portuguese does move.

And according to The Athletic, two of the names on their radar are Sam Johnstone and Danny Ward.

Both men have proved to be revelations for either club or country in the last 12 months.

Johnstone was a shining light for West Brom. According to FB Ref, no goalkeeper made more saves in the Premier League than the Englishman last season.

Ward meanwhile, is continuing to catch the eye for Wales at Euro 2020.

Wolves must fancy chances of landing either Johnstone or Ward in transfer window

Leicester City’s task of keeping Ward has surely got a lot tougher this summer.

Remarkably, the 28-year-old joined the Foxes in the same window Patricio arrived at Molineux.

And yet, while Patricio has played 112 Premier League games since, Ward is still awaiting the chance to feature in the top flight for Leicester.

So that should certainly help Wolves if they do come calling.

Johnstone meanwhile, would be forgiven for wanting to leave the Hawthorns with the Baggies back in the Championship.

The Athletic recently suggested that he could cost around £20 million. But he also has one year left on his contract.

Patricio moving would leave huge gloves to fill. But Johnstone and Ward have shown on different stages over the last year that they both possess a lot of talent.
