Former Arsenal attacker Willian could reportedly play a big role in if a player leaves north London for a massive fee this summer.

The Brazilian forward has gone down in Arsenal history as one of the club’s worst signings in recent memory, with the winger signing for free from Chelsea before turning in a number of disastrous performances, ending in Willian leaving after just one year.

With the attacker now back in England with Fulham, Willian has found his magic touch again in the Premier League with the former Brazilian international becoming a key player for Marco Silva since the Cottagers returned to the top-flight.

Yet Willian could now inadvertently play a big role in an Arsenal talent potentially leaving this summer.

Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe chase could come down to if Willian stays

According to Football London, Fulham’s bid to sign Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe could boil down to if an agreement can be reached to keep Willian, with the west London side in talks with the Brazilian winger.

As per the report, Willian leaving Craven Cottage could free up the funds needed for Fulham to make a real effort to sign Smith Rowe, with the Premier League side already having a £25m bid rejected from Arsenal for the 23-year-old.

Lauded by Arteta as an ‘extraordinary’ player, Willian rejecting Fulham’s latest contract proposal and leaving west London could be huge for Arsenal in their bid to offload Smith Rowe, who could leave for a club-record fee this summer.

And if such an event was to happen, Arsenal fans will have a newfound respect for Willian, with the Brazilian’s exit from Fulham potentially opening the door for Smith Rowe to finally move on and to get his career back on track.

Smith Rowe simply has to move on from Arsenal this summer

Having made just four starts in all competitions last season, Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal this summer has to be regarded as a top priority for the north London side given how talented the 23-year-old is.

And with an exit now potentially resting on if Willian stays or leaves Fulham, Arsenal fans will be hopeful that their former winger can provide one last trick, which could lead to a club-record sale for Smith Rowe.

Indeed, the England international deserves a chance to be a regular for a top Premier League side, and Fulham can provide just that for Smith Rowe, who could thrive in west London under Silva at Craven Cottage.
