Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been handed a huge boost as William Saliba has signed a brand new contract at the club.

The defender has been a key player for the Gunners ever since he made his full senior team breakthrough in 2022.

In that time, William Saliba has formed quite a partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes, with the two becoming one of the best centre-back pairings in the Premier League.

Saliba has committed to a five-year deal at Arsenal, which will keep him until 2030, coming as quite a boost.

It means another few years of featuring under Mikel Arteta, who has continued to place trust in the 24-year-old.

Now, following the signing, the defender has given his verdict on the coach that says it all about their dynamic.

William Saliba’s brand new Arsenal contract has silenced any doubts surrounding his future, as tensions start to rise in the final two years of any deal.

Some quarters questioned whether the lack of trophies so far would put the defender off from signing anything, while others have raised doubts over Mikel Arteta’s ability to do so.

However, it seems clear that the players think otherwise, as proven by Saliba signing the extension.

He also used just one word to describe Arteta when speaking to the official Arsenal website, when he said: “I feel at home. We have a good team, we have a good squad, we have good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be.

“I enjoy every day when I have the chance to wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I’ll give even more to this club and to the fans.”

Calling Arteta the “perfect” coach for Saliba really does speak volumes as to how well he fits the team.

While there have been some outside doubts over the manager and his position, it’s quite clear that the whole team are behind him and believes that they can push forward with his leadership.

For now, the partnership looks set to continue, as Arsenal look towards winning the biggest titles football has to offer.
