Eddie Howe has admitted that Matty Longstaff will be leaving Newcastle United on loan this summer.
Howe was speaking at his pre-match press conference, as reported by Chronicle Live.
With deadline day rapidly approaching, Howe was asked about any potential incomings and outgoings at St. James’ Park.
One of the players Howe highlighted was 22-year-old Longstaff.

Howe confirmed his plans for Longstaff, saying: “Matty Longstaff will be one (to go). The slightly younger players there could be movement.”
The younger Longstaff brother broke into Newcastle’s first team in 2019.
He made headlines on his debut, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 home win against Manchester United.
His Newcastle career hasn’t kicked on as he would have liked since then, and now another loan move appears to be on the cards.
Howe admits Longstaff will leave Newcastle
Matty Longstaff is in the final year of his Newcastle contract, and will need to impress wherever he goes on loan to earn a new deal.
The former England under-20 international had two separate loan spells away from Newcastle last season.
Longstaff made just five appearances at Aberdeen during the first half of last season.

He fared better at Mansfield Town, helping The Stags reach the League Two play-offs.
However, Longstaff’s fall from starting Premier League matches under Steve Bruce, to playing regular fourth tier football is a worry.
Longstaff has failed to feature in any of Eddie Howe’s matchday squads this season.
He was even omitted from the 20-man squad that played Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle are still linked with more additions before the transfer window closes.
Longstaff could have been further down the midfield pecking order if Conor Gallagher had joined, but this now looks unlikely.
Howe allowing Longstaff to leave Newcastle on loan is the best option for all parties right now.
