Jurgen Klopp was such a big admirer of Diogo Jota as a player and a person, and he once hailed him the ‘perfect’ Liverpool signing.
Jota tragically passed away in a car accident with his brother in Spain during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The 28-year-old made 182 appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring 65 goals, whilst also notching a further 26 assists.
The forward was a roaring success at Anfield as he helped them to win the Premier League title, along with an FA Cup and two League Cups.
Klopp brought the player to Liverpool from Wolves back in the summer of 2020, and the Reds’ boss once explained why he was such a massive fan of his.

Jurgen Klopp once hailed Diogo Jota ‘perfect signing’ for Liverpool
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp once hailed Diogo Jota as the ‘perfect signing’ for his Liverpool team.
The German head coach spoke back in November 2021 about the Portuguese international being an ‘exceptional’ talent and hailed his attributes.
The 58-year-old said he had everything that was required from a Liverpool player, including the physical and technical skills, along with being smart enough to quickly learn the tactical aspects.
Klopp was also so impressed by his ability to fill several different roles across Liverpool’s front line, which made him ‘very helpful’ for his team.
Speaking after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Southampton, Klopp told the media: “Diogo exceptional player, an exceptional boy. Signed for us one and a half years ago.
“The perfect signing for us because he has everything that a Liverpool player and this squad needs, he has the technical skills, the physical skills, and he’s very smart, learning all the tactical stuff pretty quickly.
“On top of that, he can play all three positions in a 4-2-3-1, he could play in the ten, he has the speed, he has the desire to finish situations off.”
Diogo Jota’s incredible Liverpool stats
Jota was one of the Premier League’s most underrated players, with his statistics and trophy haul at Anfield backing that up.
Arne Slot called Jota ‘so intelligent’, which appears to be a similar theme amongst the coaches he worked under, with Klopp making the same point.
