Aston Villa are currently in the process of trying to get Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to Villa Park.

The Manchester United striker has fallen well out of favour under Ruben Amorim and is expected to leave Old Trafford before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have just allowed Jhon Duran to leave for Al-Nassr and are now looking at forward options.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Villa have made enquiries about Rashford’s situation.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the state of play involving Rashford, Villa and Man United.

Unai Emery green-lights Aston Villa approach for Marcus Rashford

Romano has claimed that Villa boss Unai Emery has given the green light to the club’s board over pushing for a Marcus Rashford loan deal.

The transfer insider added that it would be an “expensive and difficult” deal to break, but there’s “strong interest” from Villa and and talks are ongoing.

Why Rashford to Villa deal is ‘expensive and difficult’

Rashford hinted at his desire to leave Man United last month and since then, his future has become one of the hottest topics across world football.

However, he is one of Man United’s highest earners, with a salary in excess of £300,000 a week, which complicates things for any club wanting to sign him.

TBR Football sources have been informed that Rashford is unwilling to take a wage cut if he leaves Man United.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ stance is that they would like a majority of the player’s earnings to be covered before they sanction a loan deal.

In addition, Rashford is keen on joining one of Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain, so it remains to be seen whether or not he’d entertain the idea of a move to Villa Park.

Rashford, who has been hailed as an ‘unbelievable’ player by Alan Shearer, has been at Man United all his career.

But while a move away now is the best thing for all parties involved, there are a lot of things for Villa, Man United and Rashford’s camp to discuss.
