Mohamed Salah made headlines at the weekend with his comments about his Liverpool future.

The Egyptian told Sky Sports that he hasn’t had any communication yet about a new contract, and, as you can imagine, many are in disbelief about Salah’s situation.

However, while no direct contact has been made about Salah’s contract, there has been some pre-emptive movement on this front.

Indeed, according to Simon Hughes, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Liverpool’s Sporting Director, Richard Hughes, has actually made contact with Salah’s agent to introduce himself, and, hopefully, that will lead to further talks down the line.

Hughes shared what he knows about Salah’s situation.

“I wasn’t surprised that Liverpool haven’t spoken to him. Richard Hughes has made contact with his agent , Ramy Abass, just to introduce himself, but nothing beyond that,” Hughes said.

Mohamed Salah talks will happen

Salah’s comments at the weekend set alarm bells ringing with Liverpool fans, but, as ever, the Reds probably have this situation under control.

Indeed, Liverpool still have months to open talks with Salah about a new deal to get this wrapped up, and they won’t just leave this situation on hold.

Salah is, without a doubt, one of Liverpool’s best players, they’re not just going to leave him in the dark about his future

Of course, whether any sort of agreement can be reached with Salah about a new contract is another matter entirely, but talks will happen at some point.

Richard Hughes wasn’t that busy in the summer transfer window in regards to new signings, but he has three huge jobs on his hands as he tries to deal with the expiring contracts of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It will certainly be interesting to see how these situations play out at Liverpool in the coming months.
