What new Tottenham signing Radu Dragusin’s disciplinary record has been like at Genoa

Radu Dragusin looks set to become Tottenham’s second signing of the January transfer window.

The Romanian has arrived at Tottenham’s training ground to complete this deal, and we may just be a matter of hours away from an official announcement.

There’s plenty of excitement around this deal, and for good reason.

The 21-year-old defender is one of the most promising young centre-backs in Serie A, and now, he’s headed to Tottenham.

Of course, there are a number of attributes you need in order to play as a centre-half in Ange Postecoglou’s team. Pace, intelligence and strength, but one other vital attribute is a good disciplinary record.

As we’ve seen this season red cards can absolutely cripple a team, and Spurs know that all too well with Cristian Romero at the back.

While Dragusin has been described as having a bit of Romero about him with his front-footed style and the fact that he absolutely loves a crunching tackle, he’s not one for getting sent off.

Indeed, unlike Romero, Dragusin has actually never received a red card in his senior career, and on top of that, he has received just 11 yellow cards in 145 games according to Transfermarkt.

Some centre-backs are fantastic players but they can be a detriment to their team due to their ill-discipline, but Draguson is absolutely the opposite of that.

This is a player who isn’t scared to put in a tackle, and while they can sometimes be hard, they’re usually fair.

Tottenham need someone who can be relied upon to keep a calm head in order to counteract Romero’s recklessness at times, and it would appear that Dragusin is that man.

Of course, Dragusin’s temperament could change once he arrives in the Premier League and starts getting riled up by opposition fans and players more and more, but, his record to date is almost squeaky clean.
