Liverpool’s summer has certainly burst into life over the last 24 hours as the Reds look to finally break their drought in the market.

Arne Slot is the only manager in the Premier League who is still awaiting his first signing of the summer.

What Martin Zubimendi’s agents have said about potential Liverpool move

Over the course of the summer, Liverpool’s demand for a new number six has become pretty apparent and it is something which the Reds are now looking to address.

It is now even said that Real Sociedad are resigned to losing Zubimendi this summer in what would be a £60m deal.

Zubimendi would mark a really strong first piece of business for Slot and it would show some backing from the owners.

However, it is by no means a done deal just yet with the player’s agents having now spoken out on the matter.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Zubimendi’s agents are playing down the speculation surrounding Liverpool’s reported interest.

It is claimed the player’s agents have said it is just another rumour but they have also admitted “there is still a lot of time” for something to happen this month.

Although Liverpool’s season gets underway next weekend, the Reds still have until the end of the month to get any deals concluded.

Yes, Liverpool would have wanted a player like Zubimendi in for the start of the campaign, but this would be a huge deal which would be a real statement if Liverpool can get it done at all.

Liverpool could scupper summer move for Arsenal by signing Zubimendi

The Gunners may be looking on in frustration with a deal for Zubimendi potentially handing them a double blow this summer.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Zubimendi but it is claimed in the report that they were unable to convince him to make the move.

Not only could Liverpool swoop in and take one of Mikel Arteta’s targets, but they could also scupper a move for Mikel Merino.

Arsenal are closing in on a move for Merino, but this could now potentially put that deal at risk with Sociedad now possibly losing their two starting midfielders.
