Refereeing decisions were once again at the centre of the conversation this weekend as Arsenal played Manchester City.
The Gunners came away from the Etihad with a 2-2 draw, but this game wasn’t without its controversies.
Arsenal’s first goal came off the back of a quick free-kick that angered Kyle Walker, while Leandro Trossard was sent off towards the end of the first-half for kicking the ball away.
Meanwhile, Chris Sutton has also questioned the amount of added time in this game.
Trossard’s red card was controversial to say the least, and, as you can imagine, the Belgian has been pleading his case behind the scenes.
Indeed, according to The Mirror, Trossard tried to explain why he was sent off against City to his Arsenal teammates.

What Leandro Trossard told his teammates
According to The Mirror, Trossard tried to explain his actions after the game.
Trossard apparently made it clear in the dressing room that he was actually trying to play a pass, did not hear the whistle and he even told the referee this.
We’ve been here before with Arsenal a few times.
Robin van Persie was sent off in similar fashion in the Champions League against Barcelona more than 10 years ago, while, more recently, Declan Rice suffered a similar fate against Brighton.
Leandro Trossard’s excuse is flimsy
While Leandro Trossard does have a right to be annoyed about this red card, his excuse here doesn’t quite add up.
Indeed, Trossard tried telling his teammates he was trying to play a pass because he hadn’t heard the whistle, but this kick of the ball didn’t look like any pass we’ve seen Trossard attempt before.
This was an old-fashioned hoof, Trossard smashed the ball out of play, and it did look as though he was just trying to boot the ball away.
Trossard may have had more of a case to make if he’d played more of a controlled pass into the path of Gabriel Martinelli, but when you watch the incident, it doesn’t look like Trossard is actively trying to make a pass.
