Arsenal and Manchester City drew on Sunday in a game that was marred by some controversial refereeing decisions.
Arsenal’s first goal came off the back of a quick restart that angered Kyle Walker as the defender wasn’t allowed to get back into position for the set-piece.
Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard was sent off towards the end of the first-half in a call that has sparked plenty of debate across the footballing world.
Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing Michael Oliver’s refereeing performance in this game, and he believes he’s spotted another mistake.
Indeed, Sutton believes that the seven minutes added on at the end of the game wasn’t enough injury time, claiming that he’d be going mad in that situation if he was Pep Guardiola.

Chris Sutton questions Arsenal vs Man City added time
Sutton shared his verdict on the added time in this game.
“Absolutely when the free kick was taken he should’ve been allowed to get back over into position. I understand the frustration. Clearly Man City were frustrated, but we’d have done the same thing. Having said that, I don’t know where Michael Oliver got seven minutes of added time from, I know they went longer in the end, but if I’m Pep Guardiola, I’m going mad,” Sutton said.
Seven minutes wasn’t enough
Sutton is spot on, seven minutes added time wasn’t necessarily enough here.
In this day and age, we regularly see eight, nine, or 10 minutes added to games, but in a match where plenty of time was wasted, Oliver only added seven minutes.
Of course, that was enough for City to get an equalising goal, but perhaps Pep Guardiola’s side could’ve pushed for a winner if the correct amount of added time was implemented.
This certainly wasn’t Michael Oliver’s finest hour as he made numerous contentious decisions in a massive game.
