Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez celebrated the win against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal by kissing the badge.
That is according to beIN SPORTS, which has termed it as “the ultimate wind-up”.
So, what has been reported about Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Arsenal? Let’s take a look.
Emiliano Martinez enjoys Aston Villa win vs Arsenal
Well, Aston Villa won 1-0 against Arsenal at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening. John McGinn scored the only goal of the match in the first half.
Emiliano Martinez started the match for Villa. The 31-year-old is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and is a regular for the first team.
As you can see below, immediately after Villa won the match, Martinez celebrated the result by kissing the badge.
Martinez is a former Arsenal goalkeeper. The Argentina international was on the books of the Gunners from 2010 until the summer of 2020 when the North London club sold him to Aston Villa.
Arsenal exit was the making of Emiliano Martinez
In my view, leaving Arsenal for Aston Villa was the making of Emiliano Martinez. He was never going to become the first-choice goalkeeper at the Gunners.
At Villa, Martinez is the undisputed number one. I believe that he has grown as a goalkeeper at the Villans.

Martinez is 31 now and is at the top of his game. He won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina. Lionel Messi rates him highly.
Villa are going strong at the moment. One of the big reasons why the Villans are progressing on the pitch is because of how good Martinez is between the posts.
Unai Emery’s side are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 35 points from 16 matches, a point behind second-placed Arsenal and two points behind leaders Liverpool.
