TBR Football can reveal that Southampton are considering the position of Russell Martin and are ready to make a change during the international break.

Saints owner Dragan Solak has major ambition for Southampton to cement their place in the Premier League, but he has been left reeling with their start to the new season which has seen them claim just one point.

Southampton endured a difficult summer and for that reason, we understand that sporting director Rasmus Ankersen is also under pressure, but the main change will come with Martin.

Southampton should consider Graham Potter

If Southampton were to dismiss Martin, the natural replacement would surely be Graham Potter, who’s been out of work since his Chelsea sacking in April 2023.

Solak should already be making background checks on his situation ahead of the international break – which will allow him two weeks to find Martin’s potential successor.

Potter’s brand of football isn’t too dissimilar to Martin’s, so it should be a pretty smooth transition.

Plus, the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss does have experience fighting at the foot of the table.
