What Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard gestured towards Manchester City fans after being sent off on Sunday

Arsenal’s draw on Sunday against Manchester City left a number of people frustrated after dropping two points late on.

It looked as if Arsenal had done enough to seal all three points at the Etihad before John Stones scored a last-minute equaliser.

Mikel Arteta’s side battled for the entire of the second half with just 10 men on the pitch and were just seconds away from sealing all three points.

Leandro Trossard was the man who was sent for an early shower at the Etihad after he was shown a yellow card by Michael Oliver.

Stuart Pearce has torn into Trossard for kicking the ball away against City which saw him shown his second booking just before half time.

But what the Belgian did after being sent off has not aged well for the Arsenal forward as he made a gesture towards the City fans.

What Leandro Trossard gestured towards Man City fans

Arsenal have already come under scrutiny from fellow Premier League clubs for their game delaying tactics seen this season.

And the Gunners have already fallen foul of the law in the last three games with two of their players having now been sent off for doing exactly this.

Both Declan Rice and Trossard have now been shown a second yellow card after kicking the ball away to delay the restart of the game.

Trossard’s case came just seconds before the whistle was about the be blown for the interval as Oliver believed he was preventing City from taking their free kick.

It was Trossard who gave away the foul in the first place and then added to his issues by kicking the ball away.

And he was spotted heading down the tunnel after being sent off gesturing the scoreline – at the time – to the home fans in attendance.

Of course, that is something which has now come back to bite him with City securing the late equaliser.

Arsenal need to learn from their past mistakes

Whether fans feel Trossard was harshly done by on Sunday or not, it shows the Gunners have not learned from the Rice incident against Brighton & Hove Albion.

One big issue for the Gunners currently is their squad depth with the likes of Martin Odegaard currently out through injury.

Chris Sutton has admitted he is concerned for Arsenal due to their lack of squad depth after seeing Arteta’s bench on the weekend.

And losing players like Trossard to silly sending offs like that is far from ideal as they look to mount another title charge.
