Stuart Pearce tears into £20m Arsenal man after what happened vs Manchester City

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Manchester City on the weekend in what will go down as one of the most entertaining and chaotic Premier League games of the season.

From Erling Haaland throwing the ball at Gabriel Magalhaes‘ head to Jeremy Doku escaping a yellow card despite kicking the ball away, it was a game that was filled with incidents that have since sparked debates that have raged on.

The big moment from the game was the sending off of Leandro Trossard just before half-time, with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Richard Keys all taking aim at the £20m Arsenal forward on how avoidable his second yellow card was.

And England legend and former City manager Stuart Pearce has now had his say on the matter.

Peace says he would be ‘livid’ if he was Trossard’s teammate

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit slammed Trossard on how the Belgian international was sent off against City, with Pearce saying he would have been fuming had he been the Arsenal man’s teammate during the incident.

With Arsenal conceding a 98th-minute equaliser, Trossard’s sending off could have been the difference in the Gunners claiming a historic win at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in a decade, with Pearce seething.

Pearce said when asked about Trossard’s yellow card offence for Arsenal against City: “I watched it, Trossard could have got a yellow card for me for his first challenge, let alone booting the ball away straight afterwards.

“So how he can turn around and then be a little bit livid that it’s a poor decision because one of their players got sent off? I would be more livid as a teammate and say: ‘You have been booked already, what are you thinking about?’”

Trossard knows he will need to perform if he’s to redeem himself

Trossard has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion last year, and the 29-year-old attacker knows he will need to apologise to fans through displays on the pitch.

The Belgian’s sending off eventually saw Arsenal’s resiliant defence break against the best attack in Europe in City, with the extra man giving Pep Guardiola’s side the edge they needed to sneak a point at the death.

And for Trossard, the only way to forgiveness is through big performances in the coming weeks, starting on Saturday against Leicester City, where a good display against the Foxes could be enough to earn some respect from fans.
