Anthony Gordon could quite feasibly become a Liverpool player this summer.
Liverpool are close to selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £70m – a move which would leave a gap on the left of the attack at Anfield.
Arne Slot handed the Colombia international 28 Premier League starts last season as Liverpool won the title.
TBR Football understand Anthony Gordon is an option to replace Diaz at Liverpool, with the Newcastle No.10 believed to be ready to walk to Anfield.
The England international dreams of playing for the Reds.
In that respect, it is worth a look at what Anthony Gordon has previously said about several topics associated with Liverpool, including Steven Gerrard and Mohamed Salah – as well as Anfield.
Anthony Gordon loves You’ll Never Walk Alone
The Newcastle star is a huge admirer of Anfield and Liverpool’s anthem, telling Channel 4: “Yeah, other than St. James’, it’s Anfield by far (his favourite stadium).
“I think because I’m from the city. I grew up watching it. But I just think before the game when they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, it’s top, top level.”
Gordon – who Arsenal also like – has made three appearances at Anfield during his time at Everton and Newcastle, losing all three but providing one assist in the process.
Mohamed Salah is a role model for Anthony Gordon
Gordon has also spoken about his admiration for Salah when chatting to Rio Ferdinand on Between The Lines for TNT Sports – and also on The Overlap with Gary Neville.
The 24-year-old said: “I watch Salah a lot. Numbers‑wise, the positions he takes up, the runs in behind, he’s unbelievable. He’s probably the best player in the world for me because he has so much impact on the game.
Gordon then told Neville: “I saw Salah talk about it (visualising situations on the pitch before games). That’s where I took even more interest, because I see him as an absolute machine and a winner. People like that, you’re not going to go too far wrong following what they do.”
Admiration for Steven Gerrard
Furthermore, the man born in Liverpool has discussed his love for Gerrard, saying: “Steven Gerrard was my football hero growing up. Coming from Liverpool, he was like a God in Liverpool, and he was an unbelievable player.”
Quite evidently, Gordon is a huge fan of Liverpool – who also want Alexander Isak from Newcastle – and could soon secure his dream move once Diaz leaves for Bayern Munich.
