‘What a player’: Ivan Perisic was seriously impressed with £110k-a-week Tottenham star against Leeds

Tottenham Hotspur once again made life much more difficult for themselves than it needed to be yesterday.

They had to come from behind three times against Leeds United to eventually run out 4-3 winners against Jesse Marsch’s side.

Harry Kane’s opened was tinged in controversy after a foul on goalkeeper Illan Meslier wasn’t picked up.

Ben Davies brought Spurs back into the game at the start of the second half after they fell behind just before half-time.

They were then indebted to Rodrigo Bentancur, who scored a late brace to secure Antonio Conte’s team a vital three points.

Spurs once again went behind in a game in what has become a worrying trend in the last month.

However, the reintroduction of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski to the starting line-up provided Tottenham with a much better balance.

Bentancur and Kulusevski’s performances stood out, and Ivan Perisic was particularly impressed with the latter.

With the £110k-a-week Swede back in the side, Perisic was able to shift back into his more comfortable wing-back roll.

The Croatian will be disappointed with conceding three goals, but very pleased to have come away with three points and a fully fit Kulusevski.

The 21-year-old winger took to Instagram after the match to celebrate his side victory.

Kulusevski said: “See you soon, the best is yet to come”.

Ivan Perisic was clearly impressed with Kulusevski’s return and replied, ‘What a player’.

Wing-back Matt Doherty also commented, simply saying, ‘My bro’.

The pair have struck up a fantastic partnership on the right-hand side of the pitch for Spurs.

Kulusevski has already said what a fantastic player he thinks Doherty is.

With both players struggling with fitness issues this season, Conte will be hoping they’re both raring to go when the season restarts.

Kulusevski admitted he’d barely started running when he was thrown into the action against Liverpool last week.

It took him a matter of minutes that day to add to his assists tally, and recorded his fifth assist of the season in just nine appearances for Tottenham’s winner yesterday.

The Swede is one of Tottenham’s most important players, and his fitness will be crucial to the club’s success in the second half of the season.
