West Ham want to sign £60m Tottenham target but January deal could be too expensive

West Ham United are hoping to add a new striker to the ranks this month and would love to sign Feyenoord star, Santiago Gimenez.

Gimenez is emerging as one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe this season after scoring 21 goals and averaging more than a goal a game in the Eredivisie.

A number of clubs are keen on Gimenez. Both Tottenham and Arsenal have expressed an interest in the forward, who could actually cost as much as £60m if Feyenoord get their way.

However, according to fresh reports, West Ham now fancy a run at landing Gimenez as well.

West Ham want to sign Santiago Gimenez

According to the Daily Mail’s latest transfer confidential letter, Gimenez is one of the players West Ham would love to sign this month.

However, while Hammers fans might be excited about the prospect of him signing, it doesn’t look too likely as it stands.

The report claims that Feyenoord want at least £35m to consider selling their star man. That would mean a big outlay for the Hammers and one that is potentially out of reach.

David Moyes is desperate to beef up his attacking options after losing Jarrod Bowen recently.

There is also concern over Michail Antonio’s future.

A summer move awaits

It would be a massive surprise to see a player like Gimenez move on in the middle of the season.

For West Ham, he is very much the dream sort of signing who instantly improves their first-team. His stats don’t lie. This is clearly a player who knows where the back of the net is and would surely relish England.

However, with other clubs keen, a summer switch seems more likely here as Feyenoord will probably try and squeeze out the biggest fee they can.

The football landscape changes so quickly that come the summer, Gimenez might be even further out of reach for the Hammers.

If they do want him, then they’re going to have to dig deep in January and get it over the line.
