West Ham United are now close to completing a deal for a player who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
Julen Lopetegui clearly arrived in north London with rich ambitions to improve West Ham’s squad, one he deemed inadequately small.
Lopetegui wanted eight new signings at West Ham, which was presumably a conclusion that Tim Steidten was happy to follow.
Since then, West Ham have signed Max Kilman, someone Lopetegui already knew very well, and also Brazilian youngster Luis Guilherme alongside back up keeper Wes Foderingham.
Lopetegui has been complementary about Guilherme and it is a promising start to the window, but evidently there’s still work to be done.
In terms of Man United aiming to improve under Erik ten Hag, they too have made impressive progress welcoming both Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
And recently it’s become clear that both clubs are interested in signing Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui.
The 26-year-old Moroccan international, who the German club signed from Ajax, is a fine talent, and it now looks like he’s now on his way to east London.
Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui has chosen to join West Ham
Journalist Florian Plettenberg has now shared an important update on the saga over on X.
The journalist shared that West Ham had reached an agreement with Mazraoui for deal costing around £17m with add-ons included.

Plettenberg stressed that it was not a ‘done deal’ just yet, some details still need to be finalised, but all parties are now working to that end goal.
He shared: “FC Bayern and West Ham have reached an agreement to sign Noussair Mazraoui!
”Transfer fee: €15,5 + €4m add-ons. There’s also a verbal agreement in principle between West Ham and Mazraoui.
“But it’s not a done deal yet as important financial details about the deal have to be clarified. All parties involved now working on it.
“Manchester United, still there but West Ham are leading the race now.”
A significant win for West Ham if they are able to get a deal for Mazraoui over the line.
Steidten has had a lot of success recruiting from Ajax in the past, and it now seems as if the club are ready to sign another one of the Dutch side’s talents, this time via the Bundesliga.
