A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter after reports over the weekend claimed that the Hammers were one of the Premier League sides offered the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer.
The Irons are gearing up for a Europa League campaign this season. And they have started the new Premier League year in some style.

However, David Moyes has, so far, been unable to make any significant additions. Alphonse Areola has arrived on loan.
Nevertheless, it would appear that they have been offered the chance to take Coutinho on loan this summer.
According to the Sunday Mirror (15/8; page 74), Barcelona want to offload the 29-year-old. Leicester and Wolves have also been contacted about taking the Brazilian.

Barca are prepared to cover almost half of his £148,000-a-week wages. However, any interested side would still have to pay around £89,000-a-week for the former Liverpool star.
Coutinho has endured an incredibly tough time at the Nou Camp. And he has not played for the Catalan giants since last December due to injury.
For the West Ham fans, the rumours are not worth getting too excited about.

Several have insisted that there is no way that the board would be prepared to cover the cost to take Coutinho for the season.
